Strong, upright leaf growth with upward pointing tips
Strong stems and leaves emerge from medium size rhizomes
Deeper and darker green veining and leaf texture relative to other varieties
Black Forest has great visual interest as jet black sporangia (reproductive organs) appear in dots on underside of aging leaves as they prepare to reproduce
Deep, dark sporangia are likely the real reason for this variety's name.
